This was such a pretty setting to have a quiet rain day. I'm glad the heavy hail forecast didn't hit this far south. I saw some pictures where it did hit, and it looked like snow. The rain was heavy enough to wake me up early this morning even without hail. We had puddles around the MH in the morning, but by early afternoon they had drained off.
Sheryl picked us up after Kody got out of school. It was nice to get into her warm car tonight to come back instead of climbing on our cold & wet motorcycle. She just about broiled my rear with her seat heaters though. Guess the "high" setting expects you to be wearing more insulation.
Kody took a break from his Wii games with David to go with us on a walking tour of downtown Grass Valley. Dylan and Luke joined too. It didn't take to long for the circuit. Kevin had school and then work this evening, so he missed out.
One of Sheryl's stops along the route was at Cornish Pasties. She purchased some pasties for us to try. Keep in mind that is a PAST-ee not a PASTE-ee. Different fillings in a pie crust type dough, sealed like a pot pie with no pan.
Lots of history in the town. I had to leave the Pastee shop while they were waiting, because a heavy smoker walked into the small shop and carried the odor of burning tobacco into the small space. While waiting outside, the signs in the library windows drew my attention.
The library is a very ornate building.
Sheryl and I got started looking at old pictures and talking about family history. Tonight she started me plugging in pieces of our maternal lineage on Ancestry.com. It is easy to lose yourself for hours on that web site. She has been trying to work with her mother on the family oral history. We updated lots of "boxes" tonight. We had two computers going for awhile, researching on one and plugging in data for the boxes on the other. Good teamwork. To bad they don't live closer, we might actually get through old boxes of pictures. We were supposed to watch Luke play baseball tonight, but the game was canceled due to weather. I hope we don't have to wait until he makes the pros before watching him play.
Zero miles on our wheels today, but it is a driving day tomorrow.
